action

The fictional “Hoover Airport ” is covered in snow at Christmas . No planes take off until it stops snowing. Until then, all passengers have to wait. The three boys Spencer, Charlie and Timothy and the two girls Grace and Donna escape from the common room for children traveling alone. These kids are looking around the airport and doing some nonsense. Before they were recaptured, the rest of the children, including Spencer's sister Katherine, were housed in a hotel. As a punishment, the five runaways are not allowed to join the others and the airport manager Oliver Porter has them locked up in the lounge. So that Spencer's sister Katherine, who still believes in Santa Claus, doesn't spoil Christmas, the five outsmart her overseer and break out. Then they hide on the run from the alarmed guards in the warehouse for uncollected luggage, flee from the airport area and make their way to the hotel, which they reach via detours. However, you will be followed by airport staff to the hotel. After they have left a present with the sleeping Katerine, the airport staff catch them, catch them and bring them back to the airport. There they are locked up again, but this time they are kept separate from each other in individual cells so that they cannot escape together again. After the children communicate with the help of their walkie talkies and have escaped again, they festively decorate the airport. Finally, the five children, the other passengers and the staff celebrate Christmas together and Santa Claus distributes gifts to all single travelers from the store for lost luggage. Grace is allowed to spend Christmas with the Davenports, whose environmentalist father picks her up in a gas-guzzling Hummer vehicle because his bio-diesel Mercedes was unable to drive due to the wrong fuel. The five children agree to keep in touch before they say goodbye.

Reviews

  • "The youthful ensemble covers up the weaknesses of the plot, which seems like a not very original" best of "earlier box office hits like Kevin mentioned at the beginning ." (Critic.de, December 13, 2006)
  • "... the uncomfortable cast and the harmless showdown prevent a bigger comedy throw, instead of the full 90 minutes only about 30 minutes are really entertaining, the rest is either too sweet or too controlled." ( Filmstarts.de )
  • "Turbulent Christmas comedy for children, which also strikes a more thoughtful note and avoids sentimentality in favor of a largely coherent story about a child-friendly Christmas party as well as developing friendships." ( Lexicon of the international film )
