The University of Language and Culture Beijing ( Chinese  北京 語言 大學  /  北京 语言 文化 大学 , Pinyin Běijīng Yǔyán Dàxué ; English Beijing Language and Culture University , BLCU) is a state university in Beijing ( PR China ), where mainly foreigners study chinese language .

history

The Beijing Language and Culture University was first known in 1962 as the Peking Language Institute ( Běijīng Yǔyán Xuéyuàn , 北京 语言 学院, Beijing Language Institute) and is considered to be the leading institution in China in this field. It reports directly to the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. Until the early 1980s, the institute prepared many scholarship holders from other developing countries and from socialist countries for regular studies at other Chinese universities. Today paying students, especially from South Korea , make up the bulk of the students.

HSK

The standardized Chinese examination for foreigners HSK (汉语 水平 考试; Pinyin: Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì) was developed at the institute, which is now crucial for the acceptance of foreign students at Chinese universities.
