The Archduke Johann BORG Bad Aussee is a federal - state secondary schools in the municipality of Bad Aussee in Liezen in Styria .
history
Private high school graduation
The school was founded on November 6, 1952 by the former SS officer Wilhelm Höttl as a private high school for young people with school difficulties. The financing of this private school - unofficially called "Höttl School" - came from illegal war money . In 1955 and 1956, two residential buildings opened for boarding school students . In 1956 the "Ausseer Privatmittelschule GesmbH " was founded and the Villa Margit opened as a school building for seven classes. On June 6, 1956, the school was finally given public rights .
In 1960 the private middle school moved into a newly built school building in the Bad Aussee district of Obertressen- Praunfalk (this was later where the Otto Körber secondary school, today's New Middle School Bad Aussee) was housed . At that time it had around 400 students, 320 of them boarding school students. The boarding school students were housed in nine different houses.
The founding of the school caused a lot of criticism: the school enables a cheap Matura for children of wealthy parents and headmaster Höttl would employ Nazi colleagues as teachers (André Heller referred to the school as a “Nazi reservation”). The authorities reacted by revoking the school's public rights in 1961. As a result, the number of students fell sharply. In January 1964 the bankruptcy finally followed .
Upper secondary school of the community
After the bankruptcy , the market town of Bad Aussee took over the role of school administration and continued to run the business. In the following year the school was granted the right to hold school-leaving examinations again, and on September 28, 1968, construction of the gymnasium in Obertressen began. In 1976 the school was given the name "Oberstufen-Realgymnasium Bad Aussee".
Upper level Realgymnasium of the federal government
In 1978 the ORG Bad Aussee was taken over by the Republic of Austria as a federal school and since then has been known as the “Bundes-Oberstufen-Realgymnasium” (BORG). Since the school year 1984/85, the school has been based in the then newly built Bad Aussee Federal School Center. On September 11, 1998 the institution was renamed after Archduke Johann and has since been called "Erzherzog-Johann-BORG Bad Aussee". The BORG Bad Aussee is divided into a scientific branch, an artistic branch and a branch with a focus on music .
