Babado Novo (Portuguese; New Ruffle , also Modern Homosexuality ) is a Brazilian Axé band from Bahia .

Career

Babado Novo was founded in 2001 and played sambareggae and ballads. The band became known as a carnival block in Salvador da Bahia and shows in São Paulo , Rio de Janeiro , Minas Gerais , Espírito Santo , and cities in northeast Brazil . In 2003 the group was awarded the gold record. In the same year, Babado Novo appeared as a carnival block at numerous Micareta events such as Carnagoiânia ( Goiânia ), Micarande ( Campina Grande ), Micaroa ( João Pessoa ), Micarina ( Teresina ), Fortal ( Fortaleza ), Micarecandanga ( Brasília ), Marafolia ( São Luís) ), Parafolia ( Belém ), MaceióFest ( Maceió ), Pré-Caju ( Aracaju ) and Recifolia ( Recife ). In 2004 Babado Novo had big events around the New Year's Eve celebrations in Farol da Barra and Guarajuba. This was followed by a large-scale show in Florianópolis / Santa Catarina , the Festival de Verão Salvador and numerous other large events, often in front of 50,000 spectators and more. In 2005, Babado Novo performed in New York at the Brazil Days in front of about a million people. From 2005 to 2007, Babado Novo won the title in the best musical group category on the TV show Domingão do Faustão. Claudia Leitte and Babado Novo played together with musicians like Bruno & Marrone, Jammil e Uma Noites, Jota Quest, Skank, Timbalada and Kid Abelha. The band's history initially ended in 2008 when lead singer Claudia Leitte began a solo career. In 2009 the band came back with a different line-up and the hit "Me Diga". On New Year's Eve 2009 Babgado Novo played in front of 1 million people on Paulista Avenue in São Paulo. Babado Novo's greatest successes include “Amor Perfeito”, “Canudinho”, “Cai Fora”, “Bola de Sabão” and the provocative song “Safado, Cachorro, Sem Vergonha”.
