The locomotives of Class VII , 1868 genus Vc were broad gauge - locomotives of the Grand Ducal Baden State Railways .

With this machine from William Norris from Philadelphia , the first locomotive with the axle formula 2'B was put into operation in Baden . This attempted to prevent the wheel tires of the running axle from running sharp on the class V locomotives . The negotiations with Norris turned out to be difficult because he did not agree with the demands of the Baden State Railroad . When the locomotives were delivered in 1846, changes were still made to them at Norris's expense. Initially, the locomotives were stationed in Freiburg. Since the vehicles did not achieve the performance of type V, they soon began to make further design changes. By lowering the grate surface, the total heating surface was enlarged. From 1852 the locomotives were based in Mannheim. The conversion to standard gauge took place in 1854 and a few years later the locomotives were converted into tank locomotives of the type 1B n2t. The machines were never able to convince during their entire service life.

It had an inner frame, Bury kettle, Stephenson control and inclined outer cylinders. During the gauge change, the wheelbase of the coupling axles was reduced and the second coupling axle was moved 110 mm to the front. In addition, the beam frame was combined with a sheet metal frame.

The vehicles had a Tender of type 3 T 5.40.
