Badminton European Cup 1999

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 22nd edition of the Badminton European Cup took place in 1999 in Dornbirn, Austria. The host club Union BSC Dornbirn clearly failed in the group stage, only winning a set against the Norwegian club Kristiansand BK . In the final, the German representative BC Eintracht Südring Berlin defeated the Dutch club Sportschool van Zijderveld 5-1. The fact that the Germans had a top team was shown in the semifinals, when the Danish top favorites and defending champion Kastrup-Magleby BK were defeated. This was the only time so far that a German team could win the competition. In contrast, a Dutch team failed in the final for the fourth time.
