Railway stations in Hessen |
The Bad Camberg station is a station on the Main-Lahn Railway . The station building was listed in the Federal Republic of Germany monument topography in 2005 .
Geographical location
The train station is about one kilometer west of the town center on the outskirts of the small town of Bad Camberg , which is located in the Limburg-Weilburg district in central Hesse .
history
In February 1875, the first 12.4 kilometer section of the Main-Lahn Railway between Eschhofen and Niederselters, east of Limburg , branched off to the south from the Lahn Valley Railway, which was completed in 1863 . On May 15, 1876, the 4.8 kilometer section between Niederselters and Camberg was opened by the Hessian Ludwig Railway Company and extended further south to Idstein on July 12, 1877 . The three-story station building with a total of 22 rooms was built in 1879.
In 1982 the station was renamed from Camberg to Bad Camberg .
In 1987 the railway line from Niedernhausen to Limburg was electrified. The station was also rebuilt here. The island platform on the track towards Niedernhausen was removed and a western side platform with an underpass was created. For this purpose, the siding in the station area was shortened. The station was important in freight transport with an open loading siding, on which there was also a ramp that still exists today, general cargo loading and two connecting tracks to a gas dealer and to the company HACA-Leitern . The loading street is now used as a parking lot, the timber-framed goods shed north of the reception building gave way to a sporting goods store.
Investments
The station has two platform tracks that are connected by an underpass with ramps. Track 1 is on the non-raised house platform (38 cm) and is 234 m long. The trains to Limburg leave here. The trains to Frankfurt and Wiesbaden depart from the 76 cm high platform on platform 2 with a length of 220 m. In the northern area of the station there is a siding, which was renovated in 2010 and has a net length of around 250 m. There is also a track connection at both station exits. Points and signals are remotely controlled from Limburg.
There is a DB agency with a toilet and a travel agency in the station building. There are also parking spaces and covered bicycle parking facilities available.
The station has a push button interlocking of the type "Dr S2". It bears the designation "Cf" and is remote-controlled from Limburg .
traffic
Bad Camberg station is served by the RE 20, RB 22 and RB 21 lines. The Frankfurt Central Station is reached in about 45 minutes.
It is served by regional trains every hour and the regional express to Frankfurt every two hours. At the weekend, every second regional train runs as the RB 21 to Wiesbaden . In rush hour traffic to / from Frankfurt, the regional train is compressed to every half hour.
