The Den Helder Railway Station is the largest train station in the Dutch town of Den Helder . The station is used by 4,143 people every day (2018). It is a central hub in urban public transport . National regional and long-distance trains run at the station. It is the end of the Nieuwediep – Amsterdam railway line . In the immediate vicinity of the train station is the ferry terminal, from where you can cross to the island of Texel .
history
The first station was opened on December 20, 1865 with the Nieuwediep – Amsterdam line. The current station was built in 1958 a little further south than the former. The electrification up to Den Helder was completed in 1958. Since 1980 Den Helder has another train station called Den Helder Zuid about three kilometers south of the station .
