Former station building before 1900

history

The platform lock , which was common for a long time , was lifted in September 1974 at Ibbenbüren station. Since then, it has been possible to enter the platform without a ticket or platform ticket.

building

It is a concrete-chic building from the 1970s, which also houses the local signal box. The old station building from 1856 had to give way to the reconstruction of the city, it looked something like the existing station in Lingen . After the new construction, the tracks can be reached through a pedestrian tunnel.

Ibbenbueren Ost train station

The Ibbenbüren Ost station, operated by the Teutoburg Forest Railway , was given up on May 31, 1964. From that day on, a platform at the station building of the Bundesbahn was used. The station Ibbenbüren East was built in 1926, as the weaving Többen was endangered by the sparks of the adjacent old railway halt in front of the station building the railroad. This was now 200 meters east of the previous train stop. In 1969, the Erich Schäfer hardware store was built on the site of the old East Railway Station, with the remaining track being used as a siding.

Tracks

The station has three tracks. Track 1 is served in the direction of Osnabrück , track 2 in the direction of Rheine . Track 3 is reserved for the Teutoburg Forest Railway after it gave up its own Ibbenbüren Ost station in 1964 . The platforms have no elevators or other aids. However, there is an access road to platform 1.

Cargo handling

The Ibbenbüren freight yard has been closed since January 2, 2002. The freight trains of the Teutoburg Forest Railway are being implemented directly today. In the past, the narrow-gauge ore towing railway , with coal washing and numerous other transshipment operations , ensured a brisk volume of goods. Coal handling ended with the commissioning of the coal mine railway from the Ibbenbüren mine to Ibbenbüren-Esch station . The Ibbenbüren conveyor tunnel with the coal washing plant and the briquette factory was taken out of service. After the Nike power plant was shut down, cargo handling continued to decline. The track system was dismantled in 2006 and 2007.
