At the beginning of the 20th century , the passenger station had three tracks with one transfer option. In 1914 the Prussian State Railways took over traffic to Kronberg. Since 1954 the trains have been running every half hour / hourly. In 1970 the entire line was electrified . The Rhein-Main S-Bahn has been running on the route to Kronberg since 1978 .

The station area and the reception building are owned by the City of Kronberg. The reception building is a cultural monument due to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . It is an elongated building south of the tracks from 1914. This replaced the station building built in 1875, which was expanded in 1894 to include a princely pavilion . The two-storey reception building has a three-gable front. All three gables are slated. In the west there is a one-story extension. The platform hall made of cast-iron round pillars and lattice girders also dates from 1914.
The engine shed is not a listed building. Nevertheless, the renovation of this building was honored with the monument protection prize of the city of Kronberg in 2012.
The city is planning a new use, such as B. residential complexes and a P + R facility to design this site.
The station itself today only has a used house platform (track 1; length: 225 m; height: 76 cm) for the S4 S-Bahn to Langen . The platform to the north (track 2) is not used for regular traffic.
