history
The Niederhöchstadt station was opened on November 1, 1874 together with the Kronberger Bahn by the Cronberger Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft . The station building dates from the turn of the century around 1900 and is a listed building. It is a two-story brick building . It has a flat hipped roof and small dormers covered with tent roofs . The platform side in particular shows a sophisticated structural structure with a gabled central projection , wall panels and cornices . A polygonal bay window was later added for the supervisory staff on the ground floor and an extension on the north side.
On December 22, 1970, a shuttle service was opened on the first section of the Limes Railway between Niederhöchstadt and Schwalbach (Taunus) Limes station on the Limesstadt . Almost 2 years later, on November 6, 1972, the gap was closed as far as Bad Soden, which until then only had a rail connection with Frankfurt-Höchst through the Sodener Bahn (today's RMV line 13).
Since May 28, 1978, both routes have been served by the S-Bahn lines S3 and S4, initially only to Frankfurt (Main) Hauptwache, today to Langen (S4) or Darmstadt Hbf (S3).
