The Loecknitz station is a through station on the route Bützow-Szczecin in the municipality Loecknitz in the Vorpommern-Greifswald . It was put into operation on March 16, 1863. In 1898 a line was first opened to Brüssow . Four years later, the line was completed by extending it to Prenzlau . In 1991 traffic on the line between Prenzlau and Löcknitz was stopped and the line was closed in 1996. Since then it is no longer a connecting station . Löcknitz has been a border station on the border with Poland since May 2007 . In 2013, the station was connected to the electronic signal box in Torgelow .

location

Löcknitz station is located at 24.8 km of the lines from Stettin (counted from Stettin) and is the end point of the Prenzlau – Löcknitz line of the Prenzlauer Kreisbahnen at 42.0 km . It is located about 100 meters north of the town center and borders the streets Schwarzer Damm and Speicherstraße . The state border with Brandenburg is around four kilometers away, the state border with Poland around eleven kilometers away. The next station to the east is Grambow and to the west Zerrenthin. Both operating locations are about ten kilometers as the crow flies from Löcknitz.

history

The line from Stettin to Pasewalk and on to the Mecklenburg border near Strasburg was opened on March 16, 1863. Löcknitz had a train station on the line from the start. On November 29, 1898, the Uckermärkische Lokalbahn Aktiengesellschaft (ULAG) opened a small railway line from Löcknitz to Brüssow . Four years later, the line was extended to Prenzlau, and ULAG was taken over by Prenzlauer Kreisbahnen .

In 1945 the route in the direction of Stettin was divided about 15 kilometers east of Löcknitz by the Oder-Neisse border .

In 1991 the traffic on the route from Prenzlau to Löcknitz was stopped, until 1995 buses were still running in the rail replacement service. Thus the station lost its function as a connecting station and has been a simple through station since the line was closed in 1996 .

After the neighboring Grambow station was converted into a stop , Löcknitz station received the status of a border station on May 6, 2007 .

2012–2013 the Löcknitz and Pasewalk Ost stations were connected to the electronic interlocking in Torgelow .

Traffic volume

Until before the fall of the Wall , the Löcknitz station was far more important. He had clearance rights in international and domestic rail traffic. Various statistics document the high sales volume in freight transport that took place until the end of the 20th century. Ticket sales, express and freight traffic and the handling of travel and stored luggage have ceased today.

Freight transport

Before the First World War , more than 50,000 t of agricultural and forestry products as well as other products of local small-scale industry left the station. The goods arriving in Löcknitz were primarily building materials, fertilizers and other supplies. In general and express goods traffic, around 2000 t to 3000 t were handled annually. Due to the steadily developing truck traffic, shipping and receiving at the Löcknitz train station decreased. After the Second World War , freight transport became more important again and the numbers rose again. A small locomotive was temporarily used for shunting work.

On December 31, 2000, freight traffic in Löcknitz station was finally stopped, which was mainly due to the increasing shipping by road.

passenger traffic

Once more than 80,000 people were processed annually in Löcknitz, for some time it was even more than 110,000. After 1990 the number of passengers dropped significantly. Today there are only about 30,000 travelers annually.

Platforms and tracks

Löcknitz station once had ten tracks with a total length of three and a half kilometers. The distance between the beginning and the end, measured by the entry signals , of the operating point was almost five kilometers. Three tracks were intended for passenger traffic and four for train journeys. In 1994, Deutsche Bahn AG classified the station as an access point with local importance .

Today the track system in Löcknitz is much smaller than before. There are three main tracks, two of which are platform tracks for passenger traffic. Otherwise there are signal and safety devices and high-rise structures in the station . There are no other railway systems from earlier times.

The Prenzlauer Kreisbahn facilities consisted of a head track with a platform on the west side of the station building. The facilities of the state railway were always used for handling. The route of the circular path ran from Löcknitz about two kilometers parallel to the track in the direction of Pasewalk, before it turned off in the direction of Brüssow.

Equipment for handling goods

A 310 m long and 17 m wide loading lane and a combined head and side ramp with a load capacity of 60 t were planned for freight traffic. In addition, there was a freight hall for handling the general cargo . The rest of the equipment included a five-ton crane and a weighbridge with a load-bearing capacity of 30 t.

By August 1, 1891, the railway in Brüssow established a so-called railway freight subsidiary. Goods were transported between Brüssow and Löcknitz by a private entrepreneur.

Reception building

In the reception building there were handling and administration points, the station master's office and the signal box from which the dispatcher and a guard at the east end of the station controlled the train and shunting operations in Löcknitz.

A well-frequented train station restaurant was housed on the ground floor of the building. Some railway families lived on the upper floor and in a house on the forecourt.

Communication facilities

The small basa in Löcknitz was connected to the node basa in Pasewalk , which meant that dispatchers, ticket issuers and the areas in Löcknitz of the Pasewalk railway maintenance office and the IWSFP in Eberswalde could be reached by telephone. A section authorized representative of the transport police was also connected to the rail telephone network. The station also had a connection to Deutsche Telekom .

Other plants

The station also had a railroad telegraph that was available to traffic for a fee.

Connection

Rail transport

The RE 4 regional express line, which runs from Lübeck Hauptbahnhof via Bad Kleinen , Bützow , Neubrandenburg and Pasewalk to Szczecin Główny , serves the station every two hours.

Bus transport

The train station in Löcknitz is served by several local bus routes. However, the arrival and departure times of bus and train are not always precisely coordinated.
