The Malmsheim train station is located in Malmsheim at route kilometer 22.5 of the Württemberg Black Forest Railway and is a station in the Stuttgart S-Bahn network .

history

On December 1, 1869 opened Royal Wuerttemberg state railway route Ditzingen - Because the city as a second section of the Black Forest Railway from Zuffenhausen to Calw . The route ran between Renningen and Weil der Stadt in the Malmsheim district, in the immediate vicinity of the village. Although Malmsheim already had well over 1,000 inhabitants, they had to do without their own station for the time being. It was only when the municipality made 3,403 marks available for the construction of a wooden, one-story building with a service and waiting room that the state railway set up a stop. It was located at the level crossing on the road to Weil der Stadt and was inaugurated on December 1, 1894.

Agriculture in Malmsheim continued to decline in the 1920s and 1930s. Many citizens from Renningen and Malmsheim found new jobs , especially in Sindelfingen and Böblingen . In order to make it easier for commuters to get to work, the two municipal administrations at the Reichsbahndirektion Stuttgart demanded a closer train sequence on the Rankbachbahn . But the Reichsbahndirektion refused. Nor did she agree to the renovation of the Malmsheim reception building in order to enlarge the waiting room. She was also opposed to the proposal to set up a cargo handling facility .

To improve local traffic in the Leonberg district , on December 18, 1939 , the Deutsche Reichsbahn extended the electric Stuttgart suburban traffic from Leonberg to Weil der Stadt. In the 1960s, the concept of the Stuttgart S-Bahn developed from this. For this purpose, the Deutsche Bundesbahn created an underpass in Calwer Strasse to replace the level crossing. The S6 line has been running between Schwabstrasse and Weil der Stadt since October 1, 1978 . At the end of 1979 the no longer used station building was demolished.

On October 19, 2003, Deutsche Bahn AG put a second track between Renningen and the new Rankmühle transfer point, south of Malmsheim, into operation. To this end, she also expanded the breakpoint and created new entrances in Calwer Strasse and Rankbach .

Rail operations

The stop is served exclusively by the S6 line of the Stuttgart S-Bahn. The trains to Weil der Stadt stop on platform 1, and on platform 2 towards Renningen.

The Malmsheim station corresponds to station category 5 of the Deutsche Bahn.
