The Oberstaufen Train Station is the station of the market town of Oberstaufen and is situated on the railway line Munich-Lindau .

history

The station and line were built as part of the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn . The station was opened on September 1, 1853, when the line driven by Immenstadt was completed. The last 52 kilometers of the route from Oberstaufen to Lindau were then put into operation on October 12, 1853.

As part of austerity measures, the Deutsche Bahn temporarily dismantled the station on August 6, 1996 by expanding the switches to the stop with a double block . In 2016 the train station, the tunnel and 9.5 km of the surrounding area were renovated for € 25 million. Oberstaufen was upgraded to a station again by installing the four switches.

Infrastructure

The station is located on route kilometer 101.3 at an altitude of 784 meters. This makes it the highest stop on the Allgäu Railway. The station has an island platform that serves the two platform tracks. The south of the station lying Zugfolgeabschnitt extends to Immenstadt and is 16 km extremely long. On the other hand, it can be driven on in platform changing mode. Four switches in Oberstaufen station enable this track change. Immediately south of the station is the Oberstaufen tunnel .

The reception building of the station is a two-story building with an asymmetrical gable roof , north adjoining the one-storey extension with pitched roof. South of the reception building was the no longer used goods shed , which also had a gable roof. It was demolished in October 2017. There is a covered passage between the reception building and the former goods shed. On the track side of the reception building, a platform canopy extends over the entire length and extends to the goods shed.

The switches and signals of the station were set by an electromechanical interlocking of the type E 43 with lamp monitoring, which was given the designation Of . After the dismantling of the station, the signal box remained in operation from 1996 to serve the double block. On September 28, 2003, the interlocking was taken out of service and from then on the block position was provided by the electronic interlocking (ESTW) in Immenstadt . Since 2016, the four new station switches have also been provided by the Immenstadt ESTW.
