The Praha-Holešovice train station (Czech: Nádraží Praha-Holešovice ) started operating in 1985 and is one of the most important long-distance train stations in Prague , along with the main train station and the Praha-Smíchov train station.

Location and importance

The station is located in Prague's Holešovice on the left of the Vltava , about three kilometers north of the main station at the addresses Partyzánská 1504/24 and Vrbenského 635/39

The section of the route between the Stromovka junctions in the west (further towards Prague-Bubeneč) and Rokytka in the east (further towards Prague-Libeň or the main train station), where the train station is located, is relatively recent: it was built in the 1970s and opened on 23 Opened to traffic in December 1980. There are two bridges (one over the Vltava) and a tunnel in this short stretch of just over four kilometers. Before this construction project, trains on the north-south route in the Praha střed station (again today Masaryk station) had to go crazy . The main station could not previously be reached directly from the route from Dresden.

The station is served by the continuous international long-distance trains on the north-south route ( Berlin  - Dresden  - Prague  - Brno and on to Vienna or Bratislava and Budapest ). Since the new connection line to the main train station, known as Nové spojení , went into operation in 2009, these trains have also started at the main train station from Holešovice. Before that it was only the trains beginning and ending in Prague.

In the Esko Prague network , the station is served by the S41 (( Praha-Hostivař ) - Praha-Libeň - Praha-Holešovice - Roztoky u Prahy ) and R4 (( Děčín ) - Hněvice - Kralupy nad Vltavou - Praha-Holešovice - Praha hlavní nádraží ).

Praha-Holešovice zastávka stop

The Praha-Holešovice zastávka stop is located on the original Prague – Děčín line . This is located about 400 meters as the crow flies southwest of the long-distance train station and is part of the Praha-Bubny train station .

Holešovice metro station

Holešovice station is also a station on metro line C called Nádraží Holešovice (until 1990: Fučíkova ) and is connected to Prague Central Station via this line . It was opened as a terminus in November 1984. The total cost of the station was 319 million crowns .

The station is 7 meters deep in the ground, with two turning tracks and two vestibules . The shallow depth caused great problems for the engineers when building the extension, after all they had to bend the tracks down so that the route under the Vltava can be carried out, as a route across the Vltava was originally planned. Due to the flood of the century in 2002 , this station also had to be out of service for a long time and significantly delayed further expansion.

There are two exits from the station. The tram and bus stations can be reached through the southern one. The northern exit leads to the regional and long-distance train stations.
