Steinhöring is the train station of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Steinhöring . It is the intermediate station on the railway line to Wasserburg , which is also known as the Filzenexpress . The station has two platform tracks and belongs to station category 5. It is served daily by around 40 trains of the Südostbayernbahn. Steinhöring train station is in the area of ​​the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV).

Next to the station Steinhöring there is the breakpoint Tulling in the district Tulling .

Steinhöring station is located in the south of Steinhöring, south of the Ebrach River . The train station is about 500 m from the village center. The former station building and warehouse of the station is located west of the current station. There are still tracks at the warehouse's loading ramp, but they were deactivated when the line was expanded in 2004 and no longer made accessible. There is a P + R parking lot and a bicycle shed for commuters on the station forecourt.

The platform length is 140 meters, enough for three coupled double multiple units of the 628 series .

There has also been a bus stop for the MVV on-call bus route 443 at the train station since December 14, 2014. The on-call bus route runs from Steinhöring train station via the “Steinhöring, Gh. Steinhöring station was opened on October 1, 1903 as part of the construction of the Grafing – Wasserburg railway line . With the construction of the station, Steinhöring also received a warehouse, which was connected by rail until the early 1990s. The station, however, increasingly fell into disrepair in the 1980s, as a parallel bus line to Wasserburg was introduced to Tulling at the MVV tariff . By the mid-1990s, the number of train pairs had dropped to one on weekdays.

The route, and with it the Steinhöring stop , experienced a renaissance with the introduction of the so-called Bayern-Takt in 1996. From then on, the station was served by nine pairs of trains on weekdays. Since June 10, 2001, there have been direct travel options between Wasserburg train station and Munich during the morning and evening rush hours. The Ebersberg – Tulling section with the Steinhöring train station was also included in the tariff area of ​​the Munich Transport and Tariff Association.

In 2004 the line including the stop was modernized. The platform received a solid base and the tracks a new ballast bed and Y-sleepers. In the years that followed, the number of passengers rose steadily, so that in addition to Steinhöring, other municipalities also asked for timetables to be compressed. Due to the single-track route from Wasserburg to Grafing Bahnhof , this task was difficult without construction work.

On July 23, 2009, the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology and the Südostbayernbahn signed a "Transport Task". The construction of a siding in Steinhöring and the increase of the line speed to 80 km / h by the railway were agreed. The 6.8 million euros required for this were to be financed from federal funds.

The existing platform was dismantled in the course of the construction work, rebuilt at a different location as a central platform with a length of 140 meters and double-tracked with a platform height of 76 centimeters. If the S-Bahn line is to be extended, the platform can simply be raised to a height of 96 centimeters. The station is now approached every hour in each direction. With the exception of a handful of trains in the morning, at noon and late in the evening, the oncoming trains meet at the 30th minute of every hour. As part of the timetable consolidation, the trains run from 5:30 a.m. to 0:30 a.m. at night. In addition, the station received a new forecourt with an electronic signal box and four weather protection devices .

criticism

The station, which was converted for around 5 million euros, received criticism for its lack of complete accessibility. One of the largest facilities for the disabled in Bavaria is located in Steinhöring, which is why we paid attention to a barrier-free train station in advance of the renovation. However, even after the barrier-free station has been completed , it is not possible for wheelchair users to board the trains of the 628 series without outside help , as they are not adapted to the platform height.

In response, the Südostbayernbahn agreed that a pilot station with a mobile boarding ramp would be built at Steinhöring station. A service is also to be created to help the handicapped with the use of the ramp. Alternatively, you have to register the use of a wheelchair as before 24 hours before the start of the journey under a chargeable number.
