The Solothurn – Worblaufen railway is a 29.71-kilometer, meter-gauge and electrified railway line in the cantons of Bern and Solothurn in Switzerland . It was opened in the Solothurn – Zollikofen section in 1916 by the Solothurn – Bern Electric Narrow Gauge Railway (ESB), which merged with the Bern – Zollikofen Railway to form the Solothurn-Zollikofen-Bern Railway (SZB) in 1922 . In 1924, the Zollikofen – Worblaufen line was opened, which allowed trains to run directly between Bern and Solothurn (until then, you had to change trains in Zollikofen). In 1984 the merger to form regional transport Bern – Solothurn (RBS) followed. Passenger traffic is now integrated into the Bern S-Bahn ; the remaining freight traffic was carried out through SBB Cargo's network access until December 2012 .

Today the route is served by the S8 and RE ( RegioExpress ) lines. The center of operations is Worblaufen , there is also a depot and the RBS workshop. All trains run beyond Worblaufen on the Zollikofen – Bern line to the Swiss federal city.

The route is constantly being improved. There is multiple tracks between Worblaufen and Jegenstorf and between Grafenried and Fraubrunnen .
