The Zohor – Plavecký Mikuláš line is a branch line in western Slovakia that runs through the Okres Malacky . It runs from the village of Zohor to the village of Plavecký Mikuláš and is located in the Záhorie region between the Little Carpathians and the Záhorie military district .

history

The railway line was built during the time of the Kingdom of Hungary and opened on November 15, 1911.

During the Second World War, plans were made in the First Slovak Republic to expand the line to Jablonica in order to relieve the existing line to Trnava and the rest of the country. However, this project was stopped again in 1947 after the restoration of Czechoslovakia. In the 1970s, the part from Zohor to Rohožník was modernized because of the construction of a cement plant in Rohožník.

Special train in Plavecký Mikuláš (2008)

On February 2, 2003, the scheduled travel was stopped, but from the end of 2003 to January 2005 by the private company BRKS to Rohožník, before it was finally given up. The cement works in Rohožník and the military airfield near Kuchyňa are also regularly used for freight transport. In addition, there is the loading of raw wood in Plavecký Mikuláš and Rohožník.

From April 29 to October 1, 2017, two pairs of ZSSK passenger trains will again operate on the weekends between Zohor and Plavecke Podhradie, primarily serving tourist traffic.
