Force Motors ( Bajaj Tempo until 2005 ) is an Indian manufacturer of commercial vehicles and off-road vehicles and part of the Firodia Group .

history

The Bajaj-Tempo company was founded in 1958 to manufacture the Tempo tricycle under license. When Vidal & Sohn (manufacturer of the Tempo tricycle) was taken over by Hanomag and Hanomag was later taken over by Mercedes-Benz , Bajaj also built various Hanomag and Mercedes-Benz models under license. In addition to the tricycle, Bajaj also built the Tempo Matador and later the Harburg Transporter . This has now been replaced by the Force Traveler, a (slightly modernized) replica of the Mercedes-Benz T 1 .

In 1988 the off-road vehicle Trax was presented. In 2005, Bajaj-Tempo was renamed Force Motors. In the same year the company entered into a joint venture with MAN to manufacture heavy trucks.

The production of the last tricycle was stopped in August 2010 without a direct successor. Another joint venture was entered into with Rolls-Royce in 2018 to build 10 and 12-cylinder MTU engines under license.

Today Force Motors builds tractors, vans, minibuses, off-road vehicles and heavy trucks.
