Balksen is part of the municipality of Welver ( district of Soest ). It is located in the eastern municipality on the border with Lippetal . 39 inhabitants live in the village.

history

The origin of the place is the Balkshof on the Ahse, the oldest farm in the village. The place name is derived from him. Until the municipal reorganization, Balksen and the associated district of Ellingsen formed an independent municipality. When it was dissolved, Balksen came to Welver on July 1, 1969, and Ellingsen to Soest . The last mayor was Heinrich Nottebohm, owner of the Hillingsen farm.
