from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Baltic Open Air ( BOA for short ) is a music festival in the north of Schleswig-Holstein that has been held annually since 2011. It took place in 2011 on the Königswiesen and in the following years up to 2016 on the former barracks area "Auf der Freiheit" in Schleswig , but then had to be relocated to the surrounding area due to lack of space and the uncertain future of the event site. Since 2017 it has been taking place in the area of the municipalities of Busdorf and Selk , which directly border the Schleswig city area. In 2016 the festival had more than 10,000 visitors.

The festival has three stages, which are usually played alternately. Well-known bands and artists in recent years are z. B. Doro Pesch , Helloween , Frei.Wild , In Extremo , Eisbrecher , Powerwolf , Torfrock , Subway to Sally , Saxon , Airbourne and Uriah Heep .

The bands Fury in the Slaughterhouse , Takida , Hämatom , Haudegen , Torfrock , Feuerschwanz and Mr. Hurley & die Pulveraffen have already been announced for 2020 .

On the edge of the festival area there are several meadows and paddocks where you can camp for an additional fee. Since 2018, an additional fee of 10 euros has been levied for mobile homes and caravans, as their share has increased steadily and causes additional costs, as paths have to be reinforced and areas have to be prepared accordingly.
