Barbara Crampton (born December 27, 1958 in Levittown , Long Island , New York ) is an American actress and Scream Queen .

Life

Crampton was born in Levittown, Long Island, New York and raised in Vermont , where her father worked as a Polari at fairs and carnival events. She started acting in 7th grade and took acting classes in her high school. Crampton received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Castleton State College in Vermont.

Acting career

After completing her acting training, she returned to New York and played Cordelia in King Lear at the American Theater of Actors.

Crampton worked at Castleton State College from 1976 to 1981 .

Movie

She left New York in the early 80s and went to Los Angeles . There she began her film acting career and became famous as the Scream Queen in the cult horror films Re-Animator , From Beyond and Castle Freak . She also had minor roles in Puppet Master and Fraternity Vacation . In 1986 she stood in front of the camera with Kelli Maroney in Jim Wynorski's cult film Chopping Mall , which finally gave her her breakthrough as Scream Queen. In May 2010 she was part of the "Re-Animator Reunion" at Creation's Weekend of Horrors. She was cast by Rob Zombie for the role of Virginia Cable in his thriller The Lords of Salem in October 2011 .

She had her first role as a television actress as Trista Evans Bradford in the drama series Zeit der Sehnsucht . From 1987 to 1993 she portrayed Leanna Love in Shadow of Passion , where she won the Soap Opera Digest Award . She returned to the series in 1998 and played her role as Leanna Love until 2002. Between 2006 and 2007, she returned to the series Shadow of Passion for several episodes . Crompton played Melinda Lewis in Springfield Story from 1993 to 1995 . From 1995 to 1998 she played 'Maggie Forrester' in Reich und Schön .

Private

On October 1, 1988, she married cameraman David Boyd, but the couple divorced in 1990. In April 1995, Crampton announced that she was dating actor and director Kristoffer Tabori. The couple lived together in Los Angeles until they separated in September 1995. In December 2000 she married Robert Bleckman.
