Barbara Völzmann-Stickelbrock

Barbara Völzmann-Stickelbrock (born May 23, 1965 in Nettetal - Breyell ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

Völzmann-Stickelbrock obtained the general university entrance qualification at the Liebfrauenschule Mülhausen in 1984 . From 1985 to 1988 she studied at the Fachhochschule für Rechtspflege North Rhine-Westphalia in Bad Münstereifel and then worked as a judicial officer at the Krefeld District Court . From 1989 to 1992 she completed a law degree at the University of Cologne . After the first state examination in law, from November 1, 1992, she was a trainee lawyer in the district of the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court . She passed the second state examination in law in 1994 with a completely satisfactory result .

On January 1, 1993, she started working as a research assistant at the Institute for Procedural Law at the University of Cologne. From October 1, 1996, she was a research assistant at this institute. In 1996 she received her doctorate from the University of Cologne. The topic of her doctoral thesis was "The collision of process maxims in divorce proceedings".

Völzmann-Stickelbrock completed his habilitation on July 19, 2001 at the University of Cologne. The subject of the habilitation thesis was "Content and limits of judicial discretion in civil proceedings". The authorization to teach extended to civil law , civil procedural law with voluntary jurisdiction , commercial legal protection and copyright .

From 2001 to 2003, Barbara Völzmann-Stickelbrock was appointed professor at the universities of Munich , Passau and Bielefeld . On January 24, 2003, she was appointed C-3 professor at Bielefeld University. Since October 1st, 2004 she has been a C-4 professor at the Distance University in Hagen .

Barbara Völzmann-Stickelbrock's research focuses on civil procedure law , enforcement law and insolvency law . Numerous publications are available on these topics.

In addition to her academic teaching and research activities, Barbara Völzmann-Stickelbrock gives lectures on the tension between law and society. Topics here include the law to improve civil court protection in the event of acts of violence and stalking (GewSchG) and the topics of stalking and domestic violence . Another focus of work and activity is the standardization of degrees within the framework of the Bologna process . Barbara Völzmann-Stickelbrock is also the Bologna Commissioner for the Law Faculty of the Distance University Hagen.
