Barbie in the Nutcracker (Original: Barbie in the Nutcracker ) is a film directed by Owen Hurley that was released in 2001 . It is the first of 34 computer-animated films by Barbie to date . The plot is based on the story Nutcracker and Mouse King by ETA Hoffmann .
action
At midnight, Clara's nutcracker, given by her aunt, comes to life. The Mouse King and his army storm Clara's home at the same time. When Clara tries to protect her nutcracker from the mouse king, she is shrunk by his scepter.
Clara and the Nutcracker manage to drive the mice away. However, Clara is little now. The Nutcracker says he wasn't one before. An owl advises them to go see the sugar fairy. Clara and the Nutcracker are on their way. However, they are still pursued by the mouse king and his henchman, a bat. On the way they meet children from a destroyed candy town, which was also destroyed by the Mouse King, and a small troop of people who are hiding from the Mouse King. With the leaders of the people, Clara and the Nutcracker continue to search for the Sugar Fairy.
Clara learns that the Nutcracker is actually a prince. It turns out that Clara is the Sugar Fairy we're looking for. In the end, Clara and the prince get engaged. However, the Mouse King comes again and steals the locket from Clara, which she sends back home and activates it. As a result, Clara wakes up from a dream and finds herself at home in normal size. Clara's aunt appears with Eric, a man she met in town and promptly invited to her house. Eric looks very similar to the prince and immediately invites Clara to dance. Clara assumes it is implied that Eric and Prince Eric are in fact one and the same person.
implementation
The music comes from the ballet The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra . The template for the animation of the dance scenes comes from dancers of the New York City Ballet . The dance of the sugar fairy (in the frame story), snowflake waltz, flower waltz, Russian dance, mother ginger's clowns and pas de deux can be seen. The character of Barbie is originally spoken by Kelly Sheridan , the Mouse King by Tim Curry .
synchronization
The sync works found in the German Dubbing in Berlin for a dialogue book of Lioba Schmid and the dialogue director of Karin Buchholz instead.
