The Barmer Spitze , also Barmerspitze ( 3200 m above sea level ), is a summit in the Rieserferner Group and is located on the Austrian-Italian border between East and South Tyrol .
Location and surroundings
The peak with the summit cross is located near northeast of the Hochgall and is separated from it by the Krügergrat. It was named after the Barmen section that operates the nearby Barmer Hütte . Other peaks in the immediate vicinity are the Patscher Spitze and the Ohrenspitzen , from which the Barmer Spitze is separated by the Patscher Törl and the Riepenscharte. The slopes sloping down on the South Tyrolean side are part of the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park , on the East Tyrolean side they belong to the Hohe Tauern National Park .
Increase opportunities
The normal route leads from the Barmer Hütte first downhill to the old Barmer Hütte and then relatively flat to the junction to the Patscher Törl. Here the path branches off to the southwest and leads over the Rampleterkees to the Patscher Törl and then on to the Barmer Spitze. Climbing the summit was not considered difficult; However, after a fatal accident occurred below the summit in July 2008, the via ferrata on the Barmer Spitze was closed.
The Barmer Spitze is popular in winter. Here you can climb from the Bachertal, a side branch of the Reintal in South Tyrol, via the Ursprungsbachtal and the Lenksteinferner.
