Barry Richardson (born August 5, 1969 in Wallsend , England ) is an English goalkeeping coach and football goalkeeper .

Career

Career as a player

Richardson began his playing career in the 1988/89 season with Sunderland AFC , but he was loaned out to Seaham Red Star without use . From 1989 to 1991 he played for Scarborough FC in the lowest English professional league. In 1991 he came to Stockport County for a short time before moving to Northampton Town , where he stayed until 1994 and was used in over 100 games in the Football League Fourth Division and Football League Third Division . During the 1994/95 season he played for Preston North End and 1995-2000 for Lincoln City , with whom he made promotion to the Football League Second Division . After loaning to Mansfield Town (1999) and Sheffield Wednesday (2000), he played for Doncaster Rovers , Gainsborough Trinity and Halifax Town in the following years .

Career as a coach

In 2005 Richardson was goalkeeping coach for Doncaster Rovers, 2008 for Nottingham Forest , 2009 for Cheltenham Town . He was goalkeeping coach at Peterborough United in 2010 and joined Wycombe Wanderers in January 2014 , who play in Football League Two . He is still registered as a player, but has been out of action for a long time. On January 30, 2016, he made his competitive debut for the Wycombe Wanderers at the age of 46 years and 178 days in the fourth division game at Plymouth Argyle when he came on in the 15th minute of the game for the injured Alex Lynch. Richardson remained clean and Wycombe won the away game 1-0.
