Barschel - Murder in Geneva? is a German political thriller by the directors Uwe Boll and Frank Lustig from 1993 . The film is about theories about the suicide or the possible murder of the politician Uwe Barschel .

action

Dr. Otto Parzer is an unsuccessful art film director. His new film will deal with the death of Uwe Barschel. He visits his old friend Wittmeyer, who produces television series and comedies for the cinema. Wittmeyer shows no interest in producing Parzer's film. However, because an appointment has been postponed, he, his assistant Bernke and Parzer discuss the death of Uwe Barschel. Parzer points out inconsistencies and possible entanglements in the arms industry. Together they reconstruct the last hours of Uwe Barschel, the events in the Hotel Beau-Rivage and the statements of the Stern reporters who found Barschel's body.

In the course of the conversation, Wittmeyer kept asking how a film about Uwe Barschel could become a commercial success. Parzer then questions the habits of moviegoers and German film funding.

For fear of attracting the attention of Barschel's possible murderers, Wittmeyer ultimately decides against producing the film. Instead, he turns a harmless comedy that becomes a great success, while Parzer only receives commissioned work.

background
