action

The story takes place in the 1970s. The serial killer Max Seed is caught by Detective Bishop in his house in the middle of the forest. Before Seed can be finally arrested, however, he manages to kill five police officers.

The sentenced to death Seed is waiting in Director Wright's prison to be executed by the electric chair. Since he is not dead after two electric shocks, but would have to be released after the third unsuccessful attempt, Director Wright urges the prison doctor, Dr. Wickson to determine the death of the convict and to issue a death certificate.

Seed is then buried alive. However, he is able to free himself from his grave and systematically takes action against the people involved in this conspiracy and kills them.

When Director Wright found out, he asked Bishop to arrest Seed again.

At home, Bishop discovers that his wife and daughter have been kidnapped by Seed. He immediately drives to Seed's house to look for her there, but falls into a trap and is locked in a chamber. Bishop can see his wife and daughter via video camera and even talk to them. When Seed then appears with his wife and daughter, Bishop tries in vain to talk to him. Seed tells Bishop's daughter and her father that he will have to kill himself to save the two. Again Bishop tries to convince Seed. When he kills Bishop's wife, Bishop ends up shooting himself. But his daughter is not released, but is locked up with her father in the cellar.

background

  • Seed started on November 3, 2007 in the USA and on November 22, 2007 in Germany.
  • The world premiere of the film was already shown on April 27, 2007 at the Weekend of Fear in Erlangen. The director and screenwriter Uwe Boll was personally present. Before starting the film, he stated that Seed was an extremely brutal film and not for the faint of heart.
  • At the beginning of the film you can see real footage of dogs being brutally kicked and skinned alive. These authentic scenes were made available by the world's largest animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which also receives 2.5% of the film's net income. Boll wants to make it clear, “how broken the human species is. PETA's material shows that people are not good per se. People kill mercilessly and emotionlessly, as a sport, for profit or just for pleasure. "
  • The trailer's statement that the film is based on true events is false. Furthermore, the opinion that a convict must be released after three failed attempts at execution by electric shock is just a big city legend .

Reviews

The film received negative to scathing reviews in the German press. Cinema writes that he is "a conventional serial killer slasher who comes up with two exceptionally rough scenes" . The lexicon of international films judges: “ A trash film grazing in orgies of death, accompanied by many inadequacies, which becomes even more questionable because of its crude political messages against the death penalty and animal cruelty. "

In the Internet Movie Database , the film received exceptionally poor ratings and landed in 50th place on the “bottom list”. (As of May 6, 2008)

Awards
  • The film received an award for the best special effects at the 2007 New York Horror Film Festival.
