Bartholomäus Lutz

Bartholomäus Lutz (born September 24, 1684 in Mainz , † 1756 in Bruchsal ) was a German Jesuit , theologian and canon lawyer .

Life

Lutz received his first training in Mainz. He then went to the University of Würzburg , where he obtained his master's degree in philosophy in 1703 . On October 1, 1703 he entered the Jesuit order and then took up a study of theology, which led him to the Jesuit colleges of Mainz , 1706 of Fulda , 1711 of Würzburg, 1714 of Ettlingen and 1716 the college of Bamberg. In 1718 he made his second profession . In 1723 he came back to his hometown Mainz, but went back to Bamberg in 1725. There he took up a teaching position at the Bamberg Academy . In 1729 he received the degree of Bachelor of Theology on May 11th and the degree of Dr. theol. After he had advanced his canon law studies, he was awarded the Bachelor of Canon Law on July 16, 1730. His doctorate as Dr. iur. can. took place two days later, on July 18, 1730.

At the instigation of Adam Huth, Lutz received a position as associate professor of canon law at the University of Heidelberg in 1732 at the latest , which he held until at least 1735. After positions at the Jesuit colleges in Worms , Baden-Baden from 1736, Molsheim from 1740 and Speyer from 1741, he finally came to Bruchsal in 1748 . There he was first councilor of conscience to the Prince-Bishop of Speyer Franz Christoph Baron von Hutten zum Stolzenberg until 1749 . From 1752 to 1755 he was Regens of the Bruchsal seminary .
