Bashir Asgari Babajanzadeh
Bashir Asgari Babajanzadeh ( Persian بشیر عسگرى باباجانزاده ; * August 9, 1989 in Babol ) is an Iranian wrestler . He won a bronze medal in the Greco-Roman style heavyweight at the 2011 World Championships .
Career
Bashir Asgari Babajanzadeh started wrestling as a teenager in 1997. He focuses on the Greco-Roman style. He belongs to the Zeed WC Babol wrestling club and has been trained by Sayed Hashemi Mirzadeh since 2000. He is a sports student. At a height of 1.85 meters, he has been wrestling in the heavyweight division, in the weight class up to 120 kg, since he was a junior.
He celebrated his first success on the international wrestling mat in 2006 when he was Asian champion in the juniors (cadets) in the weight class up to 100 kg body weight. In 2007 he came in 7th place at the Junior World Championships in Antalya in the heavyweight division. He lost after winning two fights against Ricardo Melz from Germany . He was very successful in 2008. First he was Asian champion in the juniors and then he won a silver medal at the junior world championship in Istanbul in the heavyweight division . He defeated u. a. Soslan Farnijew from Russia and Sebastian Lönnborn from Sweden . He lost the final fight against Rıza Kayaalp from Turkey , who should become one of his main competitors at the international championships in the following years. In 2008 Bashir Babajanzadeh did his military service and was therefore able to take part in the World Military Championship in Split . At this first international championship in the senior sector, he took an excellent 2nd place behind Oleksandr Tschernezkyj from Ukraine , but ahead of Mindaugas Mizgaitis from Lithuania and Iosif Tschugoschwili from Belarus .
In 2009 he was Asian Junior Champion in Manila and also won a medal at the Junior World Championships in Ankara with 3rd place. He defeated there u. a. Eduard Popp from Germany, but lost again in the semifinals against Rıza Kayaalp. In 2010 he was not used in any international championships. In 2011 he became the senior Asian champion for the first time in Tashkent . In the final he defeated the Chinese Meng Qiang . The most valuable medal win of his career to date was achieved at the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul . He won a bronze medal in the heavyweight division there , which also earned him the right to start at the 2012 Olympic Games in London . He defeated Schota Gogishwanidze from Georgia , Iosif Tschugoschwili and Alexander Anutschin from Russia in Istanbul , lost in the quarter-finals to Mijaín López from Cuba and finally won this bronze medal in the consolation round with victories over Johan Eurén , Sweden and Lukasz Banak , Poland .
At the Olympic Games in London, Bashir Asgari Babajanzadeh defeated Ali Nadhim Salman from Iran and Yuri Patrikejew , a former multiple European champion and bronze medalist from the Olympic Games in Beijing from Armenia, but then lost to Johan Eurén, whom he won at last year's World Cup had defeated. Since yours did not reach the final, he was eliminated and finished in 7th place. A small consolation for him was the victory at the Universities World Championship in Kuortane / Finland two months later. There he won ahead of Alichan Ayubow, Russia.
