The Bassanne is a river in France that runs in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region . It rises at the municipal boundary of Sendets and Cauvignac , initially drains generally in a northerly direction, reaches the parallel canal Canal latéral à la Garonne (German: Garonne side canal ) in the Garonne valley and passes under it . Then the Bassanne takes a hook to the west and after a total of 28 kilometers flows into the Garonne as a left tributary in the municipal area of Castets-en-Dorthe . Just a few meters away, the Garonne Lateral Canal also flows into the Garonne, which can be navigated by ships from here to the mouth of the river.
