The Bavarian Plöckenstein (Czech. Trojmezná hora ) on the border of Germany , with the Freyung-Grafenau district in Bavaria , and the Czech Republic , with the Prachatitz district of the South Bohemian region , is 1365  m above sea level. NHN ( 1361  m nm ) high summit point on the border between the Bavarian Forest and the Bohemian Forest .

Geographical location

The Bavarian Plöckenstein is located about 700 m west of the border triangle of Germany , the Czech Republic and Austria in the elongated mountain ridge that extends from the Dreisesselberg ( 1333  m above sea level ) in the northwest - including over the Hochkamm ( 1230  m above sea level ) and Bavarian Plöckenstein  - to Hochficht ( 1,338  m above sea level ) in the southeast and over which the German-Czech (northwest) and the Czech-Austrian border (southeast) runs. Beyond the Dreiecksmark ( 1321  m above sea level ) at the border triangle lies the Plöckenstein ( 1379  m above sea level ) as the neighboring mountain to the east . On the Bavarian side lies the Bavarian Forest Nature Park , with the Neureichenauer district Pleckenstein , and on the Czech side in the Sumava National Park of the Šumava National Park , with the municipality of Nova Pec (Nová Pec) . The Světlá ( water of light ), which flows north to the Cold Vltava , has its source at the triangle .

Stone Sea

Steinernes Meer at Plöckenstein

A little below the summit of the Bavarian Plöckenstein , a nature reserve Steinernes Meer spreads out , but does not look like the granite blocks on Mount Lusen ( 1,373  m above sea level ) , which is around 30 km (as the crow flies ) further northwest in the Bavarian Forest on a summit region, but on a slope. Overall, its boulders are even larger than those on the Lusen. In addition, there are typical rocks on the summit area, as can also be seen on the nearby Dreisesselberg.

leisure

From the Bavarian Plöckenstein and its rocks there are often good prospects, for example with the influence of the foehn up to the Alps - from the Dead Mountains to the Kaiser Mountains . The European long-distance hiking trail E6 runs across it , which leads from the nearby triangle together with the Nordwaldkammweg to the Austrian Waldviertel .
