Beat Kappeler (born March 24, 1970 in Dornach ) is a Swiss saxophonist .

Life

Kappeler grew up in Reinach and attended saxophone lessons from the age of ten. He received the teaching diploma for saxophone at the Music Academy Basel with Iwan Roth as well as the concert readiness diploma for saxophone at the Musikhochschule Zürich with Markus Weiss. He is a member of several chamber music ensembles and orchestras ( Basel Symphony Orchestra ).

Beat Kappeler is a founding member of the ARTE Quartet and played with them at various festivals. This resulted in various projects and new formations, including with Terry Riley , Tim Bernes Science Friction, Fred Frith , Pierre Favres Grand Ensemble, Lucas Nigglis Zoom and the Rabih Abou-Khalil Trio. He has been a permanent member of Kaspar Ewald's Exorbitant Cabinet for over ten years . He also teaches as a saxophone teacher at the music school in Reinach and at the grammar schools in Muttenz , Münchenstein and Liestal .
