The Beilngries-Dietfurt valley zone is a natural area (082.37) that is located in the northern part of the southern Franconian Jura in the south-west German stepland .

It is bordered by the natural areas Mittleres Albmühltal (082.24), Mittlere Altmühlalb (082.23), Anlauteralb (082.27) and Schwarzach-Thalach-Taltrichter (082.29), all from the Altmühlalb , in the north the western Sulzplatte (082.30), Sulztal (082.31) , Eastern Sulzplatte (082.32), Lower Valley of the White Laaber (082.33), in the east Hemauer plateau (082.36) and in the south Lower Albmühltal (082.42) and Paulushofen-Wolfsbucher Albmühlplatte (082.40) In the middle is the natural area Arzberg (082.38) and Wolfsberg (082.39).

The largest settlements in the area are the eponymous cities of Beilngries and Dietfurt . There are also the villages of Kinding , Pfraundorf , Badanhausen , Kirchanhausen , Leising , Kottingwörth , Töging , Grögling and Mühlbach .

The Schwarzach , Mühlbach , Seegraben , Sulz , Main-Danube Canal , Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal and a second Mühlbach in the Beilngries-Dietfurt valley zone flow into it into the Altmühl.

In the area, the Altmühl runs slowly and in a meandering manner . It is an average of one kilometer wide and is on average 140 meters deeper than the surrounding albums. At Beilngries and Dietfurt the valley becomes two kilometers wide. According to J. Schaefer, it is the former valley of the Lech-Danube . In the flooded area it is dominated by meadows and in the slightly higher areas by arable land. The Ottmaringer Tal becomes the Main-Danube Canal and was used for the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal. This is also boggy in places. Nowadays there is no larger watercourse flowing through it, the valley is the former course of the Sulz .
