Ben McLemore III (born February 11, 1993 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Houston Rockets .

college

McLemore had to skip his freshman year at the University of Kansas due to academic differences. He still took part in the team's training sessions. So he started for the Jayhawks for the first time in 2012/13 . McLemore developed into one of the surprise players, which promised him a high draft position in the NBA draft . He scored 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in his freshman year and was called up to the All-Big 12 First Team at the end of the season. A short time later he signed up for the NBA draft.

NBA

McLemore was considered a promising candidate for one of the top five places, but slipped in the 2013 NBA Draft to position 7, where he was selected by the Sacramento Kings . McLemore was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for November.

Until the summer of 2017, McLemore was under contract with the Kings, but without making the big sporting breakthrough. However, the Kings decided not to renew the contract with McLemore and let him move to the Memphis Grizzlies as a free agent . There he signed a two-year contract worth $ 10.7 million.
