Benndorf is a village belonging to the district of Gröbers in the municipality of Kabelsketal in Saxony-Anhalt .

The place is located northwest of Gröbers and west of Osmünde in the area between the two cities Halle (Saale) and Leipzig . The federal highway 6 and the Halle-Leipzig railway line run south of the town . The Kabelskebach runs through the village . The Bennewitz and Proitz settlements on the other bank of the Kabelske belong to Gröbers.

history

Benndorf should have been since the 11./12. Century as a German settlement existed. It was first mentioned in a document in 1313 as Bennendorp . Benndorf also included Bennewitz (Slavic Rundling), which makes up the southern district, and Proitz on the other side of the Kabelske (first mentioned in 1182 as Broize). Historically they belonged to the hall circle of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . In 1680 this came under Brandenburg-Prussian rule as the Duchy of Magdeburg . A part of Benndorf with Proitz and Bennewitz belonged to the Giebichenstein office , the other part of Benndorf with Proitz to the Patrimonial Court of Benndorf.

With the Peace of Tilsit , Benndorf with Bennewitz and Proitz were incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. The three places belonged to the canton of Dieskau . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the places were attached to the administrative district of Merseburg of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Saalkreis.

On July 1, 1950, Benndorf was incorporated into Gröbers.
