Berfu Cengiz (born October 18, 1999 in Adana ) is a Turkish tennis player .

Career

Cengiz mainly plays tournaments on the ITF Women's Circuit , where she has won three tournaments in singles and six in doubles. She played her first tournament as a professional player in April 2014 and was in her first individual final in Antalya in February , where she was defeated by Romanian Diana Enache in three sets with 6: 4, 4: 6 and 0: 6. Cengiz celebrated her first tournament victory in August 2016 in Sharm el-Sheikh , where she defeated Sweden's Anette Munozova 6: 2 and 6: 4 in the final.

On the WTA Tour in 2015, she received a wildcard for qualifying for the Istanbul Cup . She won her first round encounter against Julija Bejhelsymer 6: 1, 3: 6 and 6: 4, before losing to Alexandra Panowa in the qualifying round with 1: 6 and 3: 6.

At the Australian Open 2016 , Cengiz started in the junior competition both in singles and with Ioana Minca in doubles competition. She failed in both competitions in the first round.
