Bernd Schubert (born June 8, 1955 in Anklam ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2002 to 2007 he was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . From February 2007 to October 2011 he was the country's ombudsman . From October 2011 to October 2016 he was again a member of the state parliament.

Life

Schubert attended the Polytechnic High School in Anklam from 1962 to 1972 and then completed an apprenticeship as a machining specialist until 1974 . He then worked as a locksmith in the furniture factory in Anklam until 1978 . He then did his 18-month military service and, from 1980, took a distance learning course at the technical college for mechanical engineering in Bautzen , where he was trained as a mechanical engineer specializing in maintenance. During his studies he continued to work in the furniture factory and after completing his studies in 1985 he was promoted to deputy director for materials management. From 1989 he became the specialist director for restaurants for two years. Before 1990 he was a member of the SED. From 1991 until 2002 he worked in a dental practice.

Schubert is non-denominational, married and has one child.

politics

Schubert was mayor of the municipality of Ducherow from 1994 to 2007 and from 1996 to 2004 head of the Ducherow office . From 1999 to 2007 he was a member of the Ostvorpommern district council, where he has been chairman of the committee for social affairs, health, family, women and gender issues since 2004. From 2001 Schubert was deputy district chairman of the CDU Ostvorpommern. In the state elections in 2002 and 2006, he was able to enter the state parliament. As a directly elected member, he represented constituency 29 (Ostvorpommern I) .

In December 2006 he was elected Ombudsman for the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and resigned from his state parliament mandate on February 4, 2007. As his successor, Vincent Kokert moved into the state parliament via the CDU state list. In the election on September 4, 2011, he was directly elected to the state parliament in constituency 29. With the constitution of the new state parliament on October 4, 2011, he gave up the office of ombudsman. Since the local elections in 2014, Schubert has been mayor of the municipality of Ducherow again .

As a member of the state parliament, Bernd Schubert was a full member of the Committee on Labor, Equality, Health and Social Affairs (= Social Committee) and the Committee on Economy, Building and Tourism (= Economic Committee). He was also the health and tourism policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group.
