Bernhard Stirnemann (born September 12, 1936 in Bern ; † March 23, 2011 ibid) was a Swiss actor , director , songwriter , cultural entrepreneur and politician ( SP ).

Life

Bernhard Stirnemann completed a teacher training seminar after a broken carpenter's apprenticeship and worked as a teacher until 1998. Independently of Mani Matter , he wrote his first chansons in the 1950s , inspired by the French chansonniers. In 1961 he founded the cellar theater Die Rampe in Bern's Kramgasse , which he also directed himself until it closed in 1982. There he appeared for the first time in 1966 with the Bern troubadours , to which he has belonged ever since. From 1968 to 1970 he also directed the theater at the Käfigturm .

He was also active in cultural policy for years, from 1972 to 1982 in the Bern City Council (parliament) and from 1982 to 1998 in the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern .

In 1992 he and friends founded a cooperative that has since run the Musigbistrot , a Parisian-style cultural bistro, in Bern . It was opened on the 20th anniversary of Mani Matter's death.

On March 23, 2011, at the age of 75, he died within a year as the third of the Bern troubadours , after Fritz Widmer and Markus Traber .
