Bernhard Wiesinger

Bernhard Wiesinger (* 21st October 1981 in Vienna ) is an Austrian jazz - saxophonist and composer .

Wiesinger began his musical training at the Poysdorf Music School . He continued this in the musical branch of the BORG Mistelbach grammar school and from 2000 studied at the Vienna Conservatory, today's MUK - Music and Art Private University of the City of Vienna ; Graduated from the Conservatory Vienna Private University in the concert subject jazz saxophone and instrumental and vocal pedagogy (IGP) was in 2004. As part of a postgraduate course, Wiesinger studied in 2004/05 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston (USA). In 2008 he completed his master's degree in saxophone with distinction at the Conservatory of the Private University.

As a freelance musician, Wiesinger lives near Vienna and is an active part of the Viennese jazz scene. He is co-founder of music projects such as free TENORS feat. Harry Sokal and Miss Moravia - World Music from Central Europe . Furthermore, there was cooperation u. a. with drummer Joris Dudli , with whom he recorded two albums ( A Rewarding Journey , 2008 and Aspiration , 2019), Christian Havel ( 13.03 Thirteen "O" Three , 2016), Fritz Pauer , Lori Williams, John DiMartino , Danny Grissett, Klemens Marktl , Rob Bargad , Renato Chicco and Jon Davis . In January 2020 Wiesinger's debut album "Notice That Moment" ( Double Moon Records ) was released, which he recorded in New York in 2019 with pianist Kevin Hays , bassist Scott Colley and drummer Bill Stewart .

In 2010 he took over the management of the association “Jazzwerkstatt Poysdorf” from founder Erich Schreiber as chairman and since then has regularly organized concerts and an annual one-week international jazz workshop.
