Berta Konrad

Berta Konrad (born September 5, 1913 in Munich ; † January 5, 1992 in Marquartstein ) was a German social worker and politician ( CDU ).

Life

After graduating from elementary school and attending secondary school, Konrad graduated from high school in England in 1933. She then completed an apprenticeship in publishing and bookselling. She worked in the social sector from 1935 and attended the Social Women's School in Munich from 1939 to 1941 , where she passed the welfare examination. From 1942 she studied law and social sciences at the universities in Tübingen , Freiburg im Breisgau and Munich . She completed her studies with a doctorate in 1947 .

Konrad initially worked as a welfare worker and from 1949 as a lecturer at the Higher Technical School for Social Work in Heidelberg , which she took over as director in 1951. She was later promoted to Ministerial Councilor. From 1955 she was chairwoman of the Catholic German Women's Association in Heidelberg and a member of the diocesan board of the Catholic Women's Association within the Diocese of Freiburg .

Konrad joined the CDU in 1950. She was a member of the board of the CDU district association Heidelberg and the regional board of the CDU North Baden . In the state elections in 1956 she won the direct mandate in constituency 33 (Mannheim III) and then moved to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg as a member. In parliament, to which she belonged until 1960, she was chairman of the social committee and member of the legal committee. In the federal elections in 1957 and 1965 , she ran for the German Bundestag , but won no mandate.

Konrad last lived as a sister of the Order of the Visitation of Mary in Niedernfels .
