Bertha Eichberg

Bertha Eichberg (born April 5, 1844 in Stuttgart , † February 10, 1864 in Munich ) was a German harpist.

Life

Bertha Eichberg was the third daughter of the couple Eleonore / Leonore and Moritz Eichberg . Her father was Chasan in Stuttgart; her sisters Pauline and Julie also became musicians. Bertha Eichberg received her training from Gottlieb Krüger in Stuttgart. In 1858 and 1859 she could be heard in concerts with her sister Pauline, who was a pianist. She has given concerts in Leipzig , Bremen , Cologne , Frankfurt a. M. , Wiesbaden , Ems , Hamburg , Heidelberg , Chemnitz and Paris and, in addition to their musical talents, is said to have “distinguished themselves both by dazzling beauty and true modesty”, as an obituary stated.

In 1863, at Franz Lachner's request, she was to become a member of the royal court orchestra in Munich. However, Bertha Eichberg died shortly before her 20th birthday of a typhoid fever. Her body was buried in the Israelite part of the Hoppenlauf cemetery in Stuttgart. Al. Wrote the necrology in the Jüdisches Volksblatt . Elsasser from Laupheim .
