Berthold Rittberger

Berthold Rittberger (born March 15, 1975 in Tübingen ) is a German political scientist .

The son of Volker Rittberger studied administrative science as well as international relations and administrative management at the University of Konstanz from 1996 to 1998 . He completed his Master of Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science . He then received his doctorate from the University of Oxford .

Until September 2003 he worked in Mannheim, first at the Mannheim Center for European Social Research (MZES) and then at Beate Kohler-Koch's Chair for Political Science . He then went back to the UK, where he was a Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford University. He also lectured at Birkbeck College of the University of London . Back in Germany he was project manager at the Mannheim Center for European Social Research. At the same time he was appointed junior professor at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern in 2005 . His dissertation Building Europe's Parliament was awarded the 'Best Dissertation Prize' of the European Union Studies Association (EUSA) in 2005. Since February 2007 he has held the professorship for political science and contemporary history at the social science faculty of the University of Mannheim . In September 2011 he followed the call of the LMU Munich and holds a chair for international relations at the Geschwister-Scholl-Institut (GSI) for political science. Rittberger is a member of the German Association for Political Science . From 2005 to 2010 he was a member of the Junge Akademie .

As a basketball player , Rittberger was a member of the C-squad of the German junior national team in 1991 , and from 1989 to 1992 he was in the D-squad of the Baden-Württemberg selection. In the 1992/93 season of the Basketball Bundesliga , Rittberger was part of the SV Tübingen 03 squad .
