Bettina Ruhrberg (born February 7, 1958 in Düsseldorf ) is a German art historian , author and since 2006 director of the Mönchehaus Museum in Goslar .

Career

Bettina Ruhrberg is the daughter of Karl and Elfriede Ruhrberg and grew up in Düsseldorf and Berlin. After finishing school in 1977, she began studying art history , Romance languages and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin . A DAAD scholarship took her to the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris from 1979 to 1980 . In 1981 I studied language in Perugia. She completed her main studies at the University of Bonn from 1982 to 1985 with a doctorate in 1990 ( Arte Povera. History, theory and works of an artistic movement in Italy ). During her studies, she worked at the Kunstmuseum Bonn and the Pieroni Gallery in Rome .

After an internship at the Kunstmuseum Bonn from 1991 to 1992, she was assistant director to Christoph Brockhaus at the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg from 1992 to 1994 . From 1994 to 1997 she worked as a research assistant at the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal a. a. researching the collections of the bankers and patrons of the arts by August and Eduard von der Heydt . From 1997 to 2000 she worked at Taschen Verlag in Cologne as a lecturer for art and photography. As director of the Hans Mayer Gallery in Düsseldorf from 2000 to 2006, she oversaw international trade fair appearances and cooperation projects with numerous art museums. Since 2006 she has been heading the Mönchehaus Museum in Goslar .

Bettina Ruhrberg curated exhibitions of the sponsors of the Goslarer Kaiserring , a. a. David Lynch (2010), Rosemarie Trockel (2011), John Baldessari (2012), Olafur Eliasson (2013), Wiebke Siem (2014), Boris Mikhailov (2015), Jimmie Durham (2016), Isa Genzken (2017) and Wolfgang Tillmans (2018). Furthermore exhibitions of the Mönchehaus Museum in Goslar u. a. on Karin Kneffel (2006), Peter Lindbergh (2008), Jonathan Meese (2011), Adolf Luther (2013), and Anselm Kiefer (2014) or Christo and Wolfgang Volz (2018). She is also responsible for the exhibitions of the Kaiserring scholarship holders, u. a. Jan Albers (2007), Helene Appel (2011), Christiane Feser (2012), Julian Charrière (2016), Matt Copson (2018).
