Christiane Feser

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christiane Feser (* 1977 in Würzburg ) is a German artist and photographer who works primarily with digital photo collages.

life and work

From 1999 to 2006 she studied visual communication and photography at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main with Heiner Blum and Lewis Baltz . During this time she worked from 2000 to 2003 on the Digitalcraft research project at the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt. She completed her studies with a diploma.

In 2011 the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York acquired pictures from her series Latente Konstrukte for its collection. “The starting point are paper models that are photographed and then repeatedly revised. Cuts and perforations, sewing and bending, copying, printing and taking new photos make these images go through various stages of expression. Multi-layered, rhythmically arranged geometric structures are created. Rich light and shadow values give them a seemingly paradoxical spatial effect ”.

“She often works with abstract-geometric compositions and shapes, which she modifies, folds, photographs, incorporates the three-dimensional forms into the photographic image, photographs again. This process is tedious and sometimes repeats itself several times without any intervention on the computer ”. This results in non-figurative and abstract photographic works. In her often large-format works, “Christiane Feser is concerned with the autonomy of the photographic image”, which stands for itself as a work of its own, “instead of just depicting something”.

She lives in Frankfurt am Main and has been working in a studio floor in Frankfurt's Gallusviertel since spring 2015 .
