Karin Kneffel

Karin Kneffel (born January 13, 1957 in Marl ) is a German painter .

Life

From 1977 to 1981, Kneffel studied German and philosophy at the Westphalian University of Münster and at the University of Duisburg-Essen . From 1981 to 1987 she studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Johannes Brus and Norbert Tadeusz , where she became a master class student with Gerhard Richter .

In 1995 she took on a teaching position at the Augsburg Summer Academy . In 1998 she was invited to the Bremen University of the Arts as a visiting professor and in 2000 to the Icelandic Art Academy in Reykjavík . From 2000 to 2008 she held a professorship for painting at the University of the Arts in Bremen. Since 2008 she has been a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich .

Kneffel was a member of the German Association of Artists . She lives and works in Düsseldorf .

Eight large-format oil paintings by Karin Kneffel have been hanging on board the Cunard Liner Queen Mary 2 since 2003 . Among 128 artists from 16 countries who show their pictures on the ship, she is the only German painter who received this honor.
