The District Court of Thalgau is a district court in the village of Thalgau in the Salzburg-Umgebung district (Wartenfelserstraße 7). It heads the judicial district of Thalgau .

history

The builder of Wartenfels Castle , Konrad von Kahlham, exercised the first jurisdiction in the area around Thalgau . A nursing court in Thalgau seems to have existed as early as the 13th century, because Ulrich von Thalgau is named as early as 1282 ; On December 26, 1288, as a judge in Thalgau, he and his son witnessed the handover of Hedwig von Pabenschwandt and her children to the Salzburg church by the Kalhamers . A separate courthouse can be found in the 16th century ( which was started in New Gepew allhie , communication from 1563), then in 1576/77 the bailiff's house with a prison was built. In 1731 the carer Franz Anton Moll reports that the house is no longer habitable. The roof was covered again in 1750, but in 1755, Prince Archbishop Sigismund von Schrattenbach decided to build a new building elsewhere, as the previous space was between two streams that often damaged it during floods.

Today's district court dates back to 1755. Several building designs were submitted at the time ( baroque building with hipped roof and richly structured facade and dormer windows by Kassian Singer ), but they were never implemented. At the same time as the new nursing home, a new Meierhaus with a stable and wooden bed was built, and in 1756 two arrows were added. The then nurse Gottfried von Moll was married to the daughter of the court chancellor Hieronymus Nikolaus Anton Cristani von Rall . His two sons Siegismund and Karl Ehrenbert von Moll were born in the house. Around 1830, the so-called Fronfeste, the former prison house, was built right next to the court. The barred windows of the former prison cells can still be found at the Fronfeste today. Both buildings are now used as official and residential buildings.

With the re-establishment of the state of Salzburg in 1850, the nursing court building in Thalgau, which was then owned by the kk Ärar , was redesigned. In 1919 it went to the Austrian Federal Treasury, in 1940 to the German Reich Justice Administration and in 1948 to the Republic of Austria. The court is responsible for criminal and civil matters in the first instance of the Flachgau communities of Faistenau , Hintersee , Hof and Thalgau . The court district was expanded on January 1, 2003 to include the district of the former St. Gilgen judicial district and some municipalities of the Salzburg judicial district ( Ebenau , Eugendorf , Koppl and Plainfeld ).

Thaulgau courthouse today

The courthouse is two-story and has a simple cubic shape with a hipped roof. Inside, vaults with puncture cap barrels have been preserved; The current negotiating room in the north-eastern part of the ground floor also has such equipment. At the beginning of the staircase is a strong wrought-iron grille with a bezel that contains the year 1832. The rooms on the upper floor have coved cornices. The building was completely renovated in 1984 and 2000 respectively.

A plaque on the facade of the building commemorates Karl Ehrenbert von Moll , erected in 1984 by the Society for Salzburg Regional Studies . In the former court park of the district court there is a memorial column for victims of National Socialism . The district court also has a court chapel.
