Biddeford is a city in the US state of Maine in the United States of America with a population of 21,227 (according to the 2010 census).
It is located near the Atlantic Ocean on the south bank of the Saco River across from its sister city Saco . Biddeford is a major industrial and commercial center of York County .

Biddeford is about four kilometers west of the confluence of the Saco River in the Atlantic Ocean on the south bank of the river. In the middle of the city are the Saco Falls , which were important for the industrialization of the city through the use of their water power.

Interstate 95 runs near Biddeford and connects the town with the main cities of Maine. In addition, the Cummings – Portland railway , which is also operated by passengers, runs through the town. Five times a day (as of 2015) a Downeaster train in each direction stops at Biddeford-Saco station, which is, however, located in the neighboring town of Saco. The Portland – Portsmouth railway line, which also runs through the town, has been closed except for a short industrial connection in the north of Biddeford. The tram routes of the Biddeford and Saco Railroad and the York Utilities Corporation , which opened up the urban area of Biddeford until the 1930s, are also no longer available . The air connection is guaranteed by Biddeford Municipal Airport , which is located on the southern outskirts of the city , the nearest airport with scheduled flights is in Portland .

Public facilities
The Southern Maine Medical Center with its 150 beds provides medical care for Biddeford and the surrounding area. At the same time, with its 1,100 employees, it is the largest employer in town (as of October 2006).
Culture education
Biddeford offers all pre, elementary, middle and high school classes and thus caters for around 3,000 students (as of October 1, 2004). In addition, Biddeford is the seat of a branch of the University of New England .
In Biddeford's City Theater with almost 500 seats, a renovated opera house from 1896, various theater, dance and music performances are given throughout the year.
In the neighboring Saco there is also a private high school with the Thornton Academy .
