Brian Joseph Dumoulin (born September 6, 1991 in Biddeford , Maine ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League since 2012 . With the team he won the Stanley Cup in the 2016 and 2017 playoffs .

Brian Dumoulin played for the Biddeford Tigers, the high school ice hockey team in his hometown of Biddeford . In the 2008/09 season he was active for the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs in the Eastern Junior Hockey League. There he was the best defender of his team on points. After the season, he was selected in the second round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in 51st place by the Carolina Hurricanes . He then played for the Boston College team . In his first season he won the Hockey East Championship with the Eagles and was elected to the All-Rookie Team. At the national championship of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Dumoulin moved with his team in the Frozen Four called a final tournament and won after a 5-0 win against the University of Wisconsin-Madison the US college championship. In the 2010/11 season, the Eagles were able to defend the title in Hockey East. Dumoulin performed well, was the defender with the highest points in his team and was elected to the First All-Star team. At the NCAA championships, he dropped out with Boston College early. In its third and final season, the Eagles again won the Hockey East Championship and then the NCAA Championship. Dumoulin, received for his services numerous awards both in the Hockey East, as well as the NCAA and was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award nominated .

On April 10, 2012, Dumoulin signed an entry level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. On June 22, 2012, he was transferred to the Pittsburgh Penguins along with Brandon Sutter and a first-round vote for Jordan Staal during the 2012 NHL Entry Draft . In the 2012/13 season he played for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League . He also spent most of the next season on the farm team , but made his debut in the National Hockey League in December 2013 and made six appearances for Pittsburgh, in which he booked an assist. During another appointment to the NHL squad in the 2014-15 season, Dumoulin scored his first goal in the NHL on December 15, 2014 against the Tampa Bay Lightning . In July 2015, the Penguins extended his contract by two years and put Dumoulin as a regular in the NHL. At the end of the 2015/16 season, Dumoulin won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins and repeated this success the following year.

The defense attorney then signed a new six-year contract in Pittsburgh in July 2017, which is expected to earn him an average annual salary of $ 4.1 million.

International

Dumoulin played for the US national team at the 2011 U20 World Youth Championship and won the bronze medal.
