Edward H. Gove

Edward Hooper Gove (born July 14, 1847 in Biddeford , Maine , † January 24, 1928 ibid) was an American businessman, lawyer and politician who was Secretary of State of Maine from 1879 .

Life

Edward H. Gove was born in Biddeford to Alvan Chadbourne Gove (1813-1898) and Mary Susan Edgerly Gove (1817-1880).

As a member of the Greenback Party , Gover was Secretary of State of Maine in 1879.

Gove was a lawyer and ran an insurance agency in Biddeford.

Edward H. Gove married Elizabeth N. Jordan in 1870. They had three children. He died on January 24, 1928 in Biddeford, Maine. His grave is in Greenwood Cemetery, Biddeford.
